CREDO has identified rural crafts, particularly handloom and handicrafts, as a core focus area to enhance the livelihoods of traditional weavers and artisans, especially those from the northeastern region of India. Through various livelihood training programs, the organization has worked towards empowering local communities by preserving their rich cultural heritage while promoting sustainable income generation. Our interventions include training in product development, quality enhancement, and design innovation to ensure that traditional crafts meet contemporary market demands. CREDO also facilitates technology-based training to improve productivity, reduce manual effort, and upgrade traditional techniques, helping artisans stay competitive in domestic and global markets. To ensure long-term economic viability, we have emphasized market linkage, branding, and packaging, enabling artisans to connect with broader audiences and build sustainable enterprises. The “Local to Global” approach lies at the heart of our mission, aiming to bring indigenous crafts to international platforms while maintaining their authenticity.

By integrating skill development with market access and design support, CREDO continues to play a pivotal role in reviving and promotinghandloom and handicrafts, transforming the sector into a vibrant source of livelihood and cultural identity
